The prime task of industrial design is to identify the objective behind the function. The fundamental function of a 'Scales' type product is to carry out weight measurement and to convey that data to the user. To achieve this basic function, we need take into account the experience of the user and the performance of the target product.

The TFA Optima composes of a platform Scale and a handheld Analyzer. It measures both the upper and lower body to attain a complete body analysis. The sturdy arched surface of the platform and the ergonomic grip of the Analyzer aimed at attaining the best measuring results have been designed conscientiously.

The TFA Optima was awarded 2005 HK Awards for Industry – Consumer Product Design Certificate.
